Physician for Primary Care
A general practitioner who is generally called a family physician and treats all minor infections, colds and other common illnesses. Such a physician serves as a home base for womens health and collects all the medical health data in one place, so that whenever women’s health issues do arise handy references are available.
Internists
Such doctors serve mainly for primary care and women’s health tips. They are very helpful in managing problems that can arise from chronic diseases like diabetes or hypertension and are accustomed to treating adults.
Gynecologist
This specialist treats the illnesses that concern female reproductive organs. A visit to such a specialist is recommended for a girl once she is between 13 and 15 years of age, and such visits have to be an annual affair, as per the recommendations of the association that is formed by gynecologists and obstetricians. Each visit should include a pelvic exam, a Pap test among other tests.
Obstetrician
This doctor is one who specializes in women’s health issues that can arise from pregnancy and childbirth and involves the babies as well. An obstetrician will also be a gynecologist as there is an overlap in these specialties. An obstetrician is one who will manage any complications that arise during pregnancy and the entire period till childbirth takes place.
Dermatologist
Conditions that arise from hair, nails and skin are treated by this specialist. Aging of the skin and its prevention, and other conditions that arise from rosacea, eczema or acne
must receive care from a dermatologist. An annual check of the entire skin of the body can warn of moles and signs that can indicate melanoma.
Optometrist
Such a doctor would have doctor’s degree in Optometry (DO) and is trained to help a person to receive care for vision and eyes.This doctor acts as a giver of primary care for the eyes and an annual visit enables the checking for good vision. While this optometrist will also be the one to suggest eye wear for correction of vision, such examination is also done by an ophthalmologist.
Ophthalmologist
Such a doctor would have an MD degree which is Doctor of Medicine but has is trained as a specialist for the treatment of eyes and other parts connected. Serious eye conditions that merit surgery would require an optometrist to make reference to an ophthalmologist. An ophthalmologist is also one who could examine the eyes and suggest prescription lenses for correction of vision.
Dentists
They are the ones who provide advice on oral healthcare and caring for the teeth. Getting your teeth checked and cleaned is something that is a routine that must be followed twice a year, and this is where the dentist can be of service.
